Sophia Castuera is an actor and independent filmmaker based in Brooklyn.

As a filmmaker, Sophia believes in the power of personal, intimate stories. She explores this belief with her fascination with finding a balance between naturalism and magical realism/surrealism. The magical and whimsical side of her artistry was showcased in the short film, VOCE, which screened in New York in 2019.

Her feature directorial debut, AUGUST AT TWENTY-TWO, illustrates her naturalistic side. The film screened at festivals like BUSHWICK FILM FESTIVAL and PROVINCETOWN FILM FESTIVAL, and was acquired by Gravitas Ventures in 2023. It is available to the public on SVOD. She is a founding member of Lady Parts Productions, alongside producer Mary Elizbeth Monda and writer/star Ali Edwards.

Sophia had the honor of training at Terry Knickerbocker Studio's Two-Year Conservatory from 2019 to 2021. Following her training, she has performed in independent films and with institutions such as Columbia University and Mabou Mines.

As a half-Mexican actor and artist, Sophia strives to help tell stories about underrepresented communities in the media.

She is a Scorpio sun, Scorpio rising, and Cancer moon.
