Sophia Castuera is an actor and award-winning independent filmmaker based in Brooklyn.

Sophia had the honor of training at Terry Knickerbocker Studio's Two-Year Conservatory from 2019 to 2021. Most recently, she appeared in the production of Kin by Bathsheba Doran. The production was directed by Spencer Whale (Lempicka, Vile Isle) and received critical and audience acclaim. Andrew Martini of Theatrely wrote of her performance as Anna: "Castuera and Mazursky work beautifully to define the central pair of lovers."

As a filmmaker, Sophia believes in the power of personal, intimate stories. Her style explores finding a balance between naturalism and magical realism/surrealism in telling these intimate stories. The whimsical side of her artistry was showcased in the short film, VOCE, which screened in New York in 2019. Her feature directorial debut, AUGUST AT TWENTY-TWO, illustrates her naturalistic side. The film screened at festivals like BUSHWICK FILM FESTIVAL (where it won Programmer's Choice) and PROVINCETOWN FILM FESTIVAL. The film was acquired by Gravitas Ventures in 2023. It is available to the public on SVOD.

As a half-Mexican actor and artist, Sophia strives to help tell stories about underrepresented communities in the media.
